So many adverts explain how breakfast cereal is essential for weight loss and good health, yet most exercise professionals and nutrition experts now understand that too many carbs and refined carbs for breakfast or any meal are the primary cause of our poor health.
For me this is a no brainer and something i agree with and promote;
Donan O'neil has made this video examining how a seemingly healthy person (his father ex professional footballer) eating the sorts of food the government recommend and a non smoker/drinker could have a heart attack.
Like wise Donan turns the food triangle/eatwell plate upside down and eats a healthy fat based diet and studies the results. A diet with good fats (eggs-fish-nuts) and meat is much better he finds for his overall body health.
The UK government recommend the above percentages?, "CRAZY" i would suggest and i am in the growing number that reducing the starchy carbs by half and increasing the Non dairy protein by the same amount will keep us healthy. "Type 2 diabetes no more"

We are running this for a great local charity "St Cuthbert's Hospice"who provide terminal care for our local people. Nearly everyone i talk to has been touched by the big C or St Cuthbert's Hospice in some way, the thing about the hospice is they have no government or NHS funding and are totally dependent on fundraising and the generosity of local people. So to help the people of the North East they need the support from the people from the North East. Heya my tribe, this one is a contentious one but here goes:
Having a healthy brain is essential in order to have a healthy mind and body, however we need to look after it too. You see we look after our skin with lotions and potions and we look after our body with good food, powders, greens drinks and detox but what do we do for our brains.
Your brain is 80% water and even a 5% water intake reduction can reduce cognitive function by 30%, so all the non water drinking crew and i know there are lots are probably 30% dumber than you, well not drinking water is stupid isn't it.
We have reduced our fatty fish intake in the last 80 years by as much as 80% and without EPA & DHA primarily derived from fatty fish(omega 3) it is 100% impossible for your brain to function at 100%.
So...eat fish and drink plenty of water, lots of us already do this so what else is bad for our brains.
Brain destroyers.......ooooh scary
Britain has one of the highest suicide rates in Europe and mental illness is a real issue, i am going to look at four brain destroyers that can effect brain function.
1. mobile phones and radiation, noooo we all spend our lives attached to them. A swedish study concluded that prolonged mobile phone use(1 hour a day or more attached to the side of your head) greatly increased the chance of brain and ear tumours. They also concluded that the earlier the phone use started the greater the risk, cordless phones have a similar effect. To add a bit of credibility to this statement: on june the 1st 2011 the WHO (World Health Organisation) classified mobile phones as carcinogenic. "say no more".
2.Stress, this is something i am really into as stress is often the number one factor stopping weight loss too. When you have any form of stress your brain releases cortisol, nothing kills brain cells like this hormone. Constant stress like going through a divorce, being sacked or a really bad relationship can reduce a large amount of brain cells and leave you dumber and less able to function.
3. Aspartame, this is something i have covered before talking about the negative effects of this sweetener and the fact that people have died taking excess aspartame. Studies suggest that lots of diet products containing this sweetener can lead to depression, panic attacks, mild rage and violence. Even the testing which lead to its approval in 1981 found that animals given the sweetener where 25 times more likely to have brain tumours. Not scare mongering here, as i think you would need to consume a lot of diet drinks and products to start harming yourself. Seriously though sugar is better than aspartame.
4. Alcohol, we all smash on average 20 units of alcohol per week and i like a tipple too. Autopsy studies have shown that cronic drinkers have smaller, lighter, more shrunken brains than their non-alcoholic adults of the same age this has also been confirmed on living alcoholics using structural imaging. Shrinkage is more extensive on the frontal lobe(seat of higher intellectual functions). I could bang on here about lots more facts and figures about dysfunction, atrophy of the brain, instead just go to any old mans pub on an afternoon and try and have a conversation with the old man propping up the bar.
What can you do to have an active brain for as long as your bodies alive?
Eat healthy still have treats, but not every night
P for Plenty, loads of water all of your life and especially after a good drink. Before you go to bed always try and neck as much water as possible and all the next day during your hangover.
Avoid anything diet, this is good general health advice too. Diet drinks and food are all absolutely rubbish for us.
Monitor how long your kids have a phone attached to their ears, get them to text instead.
Try and avoid stress, go to sleep early and at the same time each night. When you feel stressed find a quiete space and conduct slow deep breathing exercises which immediately bring you back into the correct nervous system(para sympathetic). Try and eat in a relaxed place with no distractions including tv. Dont hold onto anger about other people, as soon as the anger washes over you get the idea and image out of your head. Hatred, bitterness and anger towards others only hurts you, dont let them anger you...this takes practice but you can do it.

Heya fitness tribe
The sun has finally peaked out from behind the clouds and the ground is starting to dry out. And yes it's time to start thinking about getting that summer body.
Glenn Hill ex Army physical training instructor and bodymap trained personal trainer is unleashing his outdoor bootcamp in Chester park. It's great and a sure fire way of having a great body in time for the summer.
It's no surprise that soldiers have six packs and great bodies, it's due to the amount of circuits we do. My bootcamp is just that, pop down and try it.
Wednesday the 19th of March meeting in the park at 10.30am, you can come and try my circuit bootcamp for free. Your kids can come and watch as long as they don't try and join in.

So mom's we know it's super tough for you trying to stay in shape and having to babysit for small children too... generally it's impossible.
That's where i come in, small group personal training or personal training in which you can bring your kids along.
So an option of working with CLS/Durham's premier personal trainer and bringing your kid/s along.
What's it about:
Either personal training or group personal training with Glenn Hill.
1 hour of fitness in the same location as your child.
You will still be looking after your kids, they will be in the same location as you.
You will be entitled to nutrition plans as part of the package.
If you pay for the PT you can also attend glenn's classes for free.
You will be entitled to a "bodymap assessment" and motivational and stress relief advice.

If you think you know it all, then you will never learn and can never be helped, So recently been away with an old pal who is a bright chap but is a tad closed to new ideas. I have been away on a number of courses in recent times and read a lot of books. However each time i informed him about stuff like body toxicity,acid levels or detox he said how come nobody knows about it or he has seen some doctor on tv saying detox doesn't exist. Just because things are not common knowledge doesn't mean it's not true: the examples of how little we know are endless.
Agriculture(or treatment of crops and refinement of foods) is the cause of most of the poor health in this country. The meat we eat has more chemicals and toxins than our veg and fruit.
Breakfast cereals are great for weight loss, untrue nearly all are high in sugar and have been refined which removes nutrition. Also you should really be having protein for breakfast.
Flora proactive is good for weight loss, untrue your gut thinks margarine is plastic and doesn't function well once eaten.
Stress is one of the biggest factors when it comes to getting fit or losing weight. Rather than changing your diet or training plan, have a stress reduction plan. Dont forget that exercise is stress too, loads of cardio for some people just isn't great.
Your body is like a test tube, if it's alkali or neutral you will be healthy. However if your body is more acidic then germs, fungus and disease love to spread. Meat, coffee, fizzy drinks, energy drinks,pasta and wine etc are all acidic.
Detox is definately essential in this day and age, 10,000 generations being hunter gatherers and only 10 generations of agriculture. Your bodies detox powerhouse the liver hasn't developed well enough to clean all the added chemicals in the food we consume, you need to help it by eating certain foods and drinks.
If you have an unhealthy mind(if you are one of these haters) your brain and body recieve this as threat and stress. The combination of releasing the stress hormone cortisol(fat storage) and being in the anger nervous system(sympathetic)will ensure you are not rebuilding or restoring damaged tissue. The chances are you will live a short unhealthy life folks, love your fellow man or die hating.
